The Managing Director, Head of Originations is responsible for leading a team that provides financing solutions to exceptional sponsors who are aligned with DLPs goal to transform lives through building thriving communities. This leader is responsible for leading a team in the pursuit of new loan origination and the ongoing exceptional client focused relationship management of active sponsors. This individual is focused on attracting the best sponsors to the organization and providing them with a wow experience by leveraging the firm's vertically integrated team, delivering solutions with creativity, speed and surety of execution. You will attract, retain, and help grow an incredibly talented team that is focused on our mission of funding the building of one million attainable homes.
What you have already achieved: (Requirements)
- 15+ years of progressive commercial real estate investment and lending experience.
- Credit, underwriting and risk management experience with regulated and unregulated institutions.
- Experience with managing and growing sales and origination teams. Ability to teach, coach and lead a geographically disbursed team.
- Experience in financing the construction and development of single family, multi-family and mixed use properties.
- Demonstrable results in growing and managing a disbursed portfolio of real estate assets.
What you are great at: (Responsibilities)
- Review loan products, pricing, and guidelines every 30 days and make recommendations.
- Provide a monthly strategic plan and performance update to the CEO.
- Lead daily huddles, weekly L10, weekly sales training.
- Hold alignment meetings at least monthly with each direct report, conduct GPS alignment meetings at least quarterly, and assist the Portfolio Management Team of the DLP Lending Fund.
- Protect the company from internal and external risks and threats.
- Deliver speed with precision across all processes, including loan closings, statements, draw processing, and more.
- Prepare Initial Underwrite and analysis on deals and support relationship managers submissions.
- Proactively drive revenue by relationship based networking.
- Service 6-12 active borrowers and support portfolio management in the adherence to business plan and compliance with all contractual obligations from closing through payoff.
- Lead communication and "closing" of borrowers on all loan compliance related needs. Negotiate term sheets, operating agreements, and contracts with a focus on protecting the company and our investors from risk—always asking, “Would I invest my own money in this deal?”.
- Leverage F2F meetings, Zoom, phone calls, email, LinkedIn, video, text message, and other communications tools to source and close new relationships.
- Lead relationship management, overall communication with your portfolio of borrowers and their respective portfolios with DLP.
- Draft & Present Credit Memo to Credit Committee.
- Draft sponsor summaries.
- Drive borrower EES engagement & utilization including attending live and virtual events, compass day, EES Tools, etc for those who opt-in.
- Attend and lead borrower /deal pipeline and checklist meetings.
- Prospect and source sponsors, building strong relationships by leveraging DLP events; lead the delivery of our brand promises—speed, surety of execution, and a wow experience—and hold alignment meetings with sponsor relationships at least quarterly.
- 5+ New/prospective sponsor meetings per week.
